Low-Noise Chiller
Solutions

Parklane’s acoustic innovation meets Daikin’s world-class chiller design, creating the next generation of low-noise data center cooling.

Three Distinct Low-Noise Chiller Packages

In deep collaboration with Daikin engineering, Parklane designed a series of fully integrated attenuation package from the ground up. Every element — from airflow optimization and chiller performance to structural integrity, serviceability, acoustic performance, and ease of installation — was optimized to deliver three low-noise solutions.

Low-Noise Chiller 1

Discharge attenuation package to attenuate the fan deck, while maintaining full service access.

Low-Noise Chiller 2

Increased discharge attenuation to optimized site performance with acoustic screening.

Low-Noise Chiller 3

Discharge attenuation with hinged inlet louvers that open for full service access.

System Benefits

Simplified Site Engineering

By providing 5-sided spectral sound power levels, Acoustic Engineers can optimize the site to minimize attenuation costs. Full 500+ ton capacity packages negate the need for CFD Engineers to factor in de-rate.

Complete Solution

End users receive a fully-integrated solution with all design elements having been vetted through the product engineering process – eliminating the potential for downstream adjustments.

Factory Approved

Solutions are factory approved to avoid the unnecessary costs and time involved with engineering and OEM alignment—while ensuring all attenuation measures remain fully compatible with warranty requirements.

Maintain Serviceability

Through deep coordination with the Daikin service teams and IOMs, the system has been designed to maintain access to all components for service and maintenance.

Reduced Lead-Time

These solutions are engineered and validated up front, removing the back-and-forth between acoustic consultants and CFD engineers—saving weeks of review time and cost.

Simplified Procurement

No need to coordinate multiple vendors, align lead times, or work on vendor approvals. The low-noise solutions are a standard equipment offering direct from Daikin.

Modular Design

The attenuation is delivered prefabricated and factory-assembled, minimizing labor costs, installation risks, and project timelines. Design and delivery coordination ensure simple installation.

Solving the Problem of Stacked Conservatism

The major market gap has long been a lack of strong noise data for large heat rejection equipment like chillers. This leads to multiple layers of conservatism that result in an end solution that is inherently overbuilt, overpriced, and overweight. Together, Daikin and Parklane have developed the solution.

Eliminating Data Over-Conservatism

OEMs performed simplified acoustic testing that could not generate high-accuracy data. Due to lower confidence in that data, conservatism was added to what was shared publicly.

Decreased Modeling Assumptions

Acoustic consultants did not receive subcomponent sound data (ie. Differentiation between the fan deck and the side of the unit on a chiller). They had to model the highest available sound propagating equally from all sides.

No Overbuilt Solutions

Noise Attenuation suppliers were provided with equally low-fidelity data and had to build attenuation solutions conservatively.

Industry-Leading System Testing

By field-testing a base chiller as well as a fully attenuated chiller, Daikin and Parklane were able to build these solutions without the typical conservatism and with the high-accuracy data for acoustic consultants to build models that can be truly optimized for Owners.

Acoustic Testing

Chiller sound was measured generally in accordance with AHRI 370, using the sound intensity method described in ISO 9614-2. Measurements were supervised by a Principal Consultant holding an INCE Board Certification.

Air Flow & Pressure Testing

Pressure testing at both the inlets and the discharge of the unit on both attenuated and unattenuated systems validated the simulated aerodynamic performance with field-tested measurements. This enabled packages to be designed for no system de-rate.

Visual Heat Dispersion Test

A visual heat dispersion test verified the positive effect of extending the chiller plume height, negating heat re-entrainment.
