Noise control tailored to your needs
Silencer Systems
Silencers systems are designed to attenuate transmission of sound through heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in both interior and exterior environments. Though acoustic performance is substantiated through ASTM laboratory testing procedures, silencers must seamlessly function as an integral part of the aerodynamic system they are attenuating.
Parklane Mechanical silencer systems are designed to address both the required acoustic performance and site specific integration challenges.
Field-Fit Integration
Parklane Mechanical Silencer Systems are specifically designed to integrate to true as-built site conditions and equipment orientation.
Streamlined Aerodynamic Design
In higher velocity arrangements, internal silencer geometries are aerodynamically streamlined through advanced CFD analysis.
System Integration
Various customized options can be incorporated into the base silencer design to ensure seamless functionality within the root system (i.e. access for maintenance, cleanability, etc.).
Custom Material Selection and Finish
Silencer materials are selected based on orientation, internal pressure/flow velocity, environmental conditions, cost efficiency, and in some cases, architectural appeal.
Modularity and Pre-Assembly
Silencer arrangements can be delivered as pre-assembled kits, or designed as a monolithic modular system. This approach optimizes installation time while considering site interferences between the product’s offloading point and its final location.
STANDARD CLASSIFICATIONS:
Rectangular Dissipative
For square or rectangular flow mediums.
Circular Dissipative
For circular flow mediums.
Circular Dissipative (Bulleted)
For circular flow mediums. An acoustic core bullet is added along the centre axis of the silencer for enhanced mid-frequency band performance.
Elbow Dissipative
For rectangular flow mediums. Implemented in tight spaces that require added levels of insertion loss.
Transitional Dissipative
For circumstances where flow medium geometry requires transition along the body of the silencer (i.e., square to round, round to square, etc.).
Divergent Dissipative
Implemented when core face velocities must be reduced over the length of the silencer.
Turning Vein Dissipative
Implemented when increased level of insertion loss is required over a multi-directional flow path.
Quarter Wave (Tuned)
A reactive silencer design, implemented when the silencer must be tuned to target specific peak frequencies.
CUSTOM CLASSIFICATIONS:
Plenum Silencer
Implemented in vertical and horizonal silencer arrangements when the mitigated system requires clear access for future maintenance and inspection. Plenum sections form an integral part of the silencer body, with access provided by hinged acoustic door assemblies.
Cleanable Silencer
For systems that contain some form of particulate or viscous fluid travelling through the air stream. Clear and functional access is provided to the internal body of the silencer so routine maintenance can be performed. Fully removable baffling can also be incorporated in systems requiring a more thorough cleaning.
Structural Silencer
When large silencers are required to support either their own self-weight or the weight of another system, PMA Silencers can be designed with an integrated, structurally engineered frame.
Pre-Assembled Modular Systems
To alleviate on-site installation time, conventional knock-down silencer systems can be factory assembled and shipped install-ready.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS:
- Required insertion loss
- System airflow and static pressure limitations
- Air temperature
- Presence of air stream particulate or contaminates
- Site location
- Architectural/material requirements
